I. SUMMARY

Strata offers a state-of-the-art electronic safety platform, that includes: Completely wireless communications and tracking, post-emergency communications, proximity detection and collision avoidance, ventilation and conveyor monitoring, and Wi-Fi systems as well as cellular LTE. Additionally, Strata specializes in the design and manufacturing of emergency refuge chambers, and specialized construction products.

The Mechanical Engineer position will support the product and manufacturing development and troubleshooting process. Requires knowledge of engineering and design principles and CAD experience.

II. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The position will require you to:

• Assist with meeting Strata’s objectives related to:
• Mechanical Engineering requirements
• Product design and drafting requirements.
• Maintaining and developing company electronic drawing files
• Interaction with US development team including Pillar Innovations and other associated firms.
• Interaction with international team members upon request
• General Project Engineering
• Mechanical engineering and design duties
• Generation, modification and maintenance of company Auto Desk Inventor and AutoCAD files
• Structural analysis and design
Product design and evaluation
• Sourcing and evaluation of components
• Design and development of new products
• Creation and manipulation of complex spreadsheets
• Researching and evaluation of relevant governmental regulations.
• Professionally interact with customers, vendors, and regulators
• Evaluate existing products and systems.
• Produce written reports and recommendations.
• Other duties as assigned.

III. QUALIFICATIONS

The qualifications listed below represent the credentials necessary to perform the essential duties and responsibilities of this position. A. Education and/or Experience

• Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
• CAD knowledge/skills
• Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• A good understanding of electrical theory and practical applications is desirable.

B. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

• Must have ability to apply basic engineering process concepts to understanding work assignments.
• Must have CAD knowledge/skills.
Must have technical, analytical and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to identify problems, their sources and their potential solutions is essential.
• Must have the ability to take initiative on a given task or project and persist with the project to its completion.
• Must have strong communication skills (written and verbal) and being attuned to others through strong active 
  listening skills.
• Must possess excellent planning and organizational skills, as well as attention to detail.
• Must be proficient with Microsoft Office applications.

IV. WORKING CONDITIONS

Location

The position is based in Grantsville, Maryland, but requires travel to various locations

Travel Requirements

The position will require travel, as needed, to support the efforts above. Expected travel will be moderate and sporadic and be based on the needs of each project. Occasional international travel may be required.

Physical Demands

Must have the ability to perform general office functions, plus light work and lifting up to fifty pounds.
